Shah Rukh Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui all praise for Sanjay Kapoor's act in Lust Stories

A few days ago, after the premiere of Lust Stories, Sanjay Kapoor was surprised to see a missed call from Shah Rukh Khan. Wondering why the superstar had called him, the former called him back, only to hear SRK heap praises on him for his performance in the anthology. “He told me that it was a tough role with many layers and that I was brilliant in the film,” says Sanjay.

It’s not just SRK who thought the actor had excelled in Dibakar Banerjee’s movie, but many others from the film fraternity, who either called or messaged him to deliver their compliments. While Abhishek Bachchan called him a ‘complete revelation’, R Balki now wants to meet up with him professionally. Zoya Akhtar messaged to tell him that every single person she spoke to that night has told her how good he was. “Nawazuddin (Siddiqui) didn’t have my number, so he called up Boney (Kapoor), got my number from him and messaged me to say that he was surprised by my performance and thought it was outstanding. It feels great to hear something like that from one of the finest actors we have today,” he says.

Sanjay, who left for a family holiday to LA right after the screening, sounds overwhelmed by all the positive feedback. “Karan and Zoya, who were among the first ones to message me, were both like, ‘this is the worst time for you to not be here’, but when I planned this holiday, I didn’t know the movie’s release date. In a way, it’s good to hear people saying good things behind your back. Saamne se toh log achcha bol hee dete hain! This makes it more special,” says the actor, who now wants to sign the right films.
