Bollywood's 'Khalnayak' Sanjay Dutt commenced the shooting of his upcoming movie, 'Prasthanam' on Friday June 1, which is his mother Nargis Dutt's birthday. The star took to Twitter to announce the news as he wrote, "The first day, first shot of @prasthaanamfilm. Even now, I feel excited about such new beginnings. All the best, team."

'Prasthanam' will also mark the return of the Dutt to Bollywood in the capacity of a producer after 7 years. His last production venture was 2011 film 'Rascals'. 'Prasthanam' was a 2010 Telugu political thriller, which starred Sharwanand, Saikumar, Sundeep Kishan and Ruby Parihar. The movie will also star Manisha Koirala, Ali Fazal and Amyra Dastur. The Victoria and Abdul actor will play Dutt’s son in the remake.

A true fan of the star, Ali was more than happy to be cast in a role much different than ones he has done before. And to show just how much he was looking forward to working with the Dutt, Ali did not even read the script of the film given to him by the original director, Dev Katta, who is also helming the remake. A source said, "Ali only met Deva and the team once and he was ecstatic with the role offered to him. He only heard the main gist of the story and his role and was immediately on board".
