Sachin-Jigar’s gurus in the music industry

Sachin and Jigar may be in the big league of composers now with an impressive discography including Stree, Gold, Hindi Medium and many more but they originally began their career as music arrangers. The duo have worked for composers such as AR Rahman, Vishal-Shekhar, Amit Trivedi and Pritam during their initial years in the industry. They say that they have learnt different things from every composer. 

Sachin says, “Each one has a different style and perception. A love song is approached so differently by Rahman sir than Vishal-Shekhar.” They learnt about the art of subtlety from ARR. “We arranged a song for him and he loved what we did but said, ‘It’s a simple song, can you make it simpler?’ That speaks volumes about the musician. He didn’t want to show to the world how many chords he knows,” Jigar adds. 

The composers consider Rajesh Roshan and Pritam as their gurus, too, and add that they gained knowledge about typical Bollywood music from the former and beating challenges from the latter.
