A report on Mid-Day today morning stated that Rohit Shetty and Akshay Kumar’s much-awaited film Sooryavanshi will be a remake just like Simmba. While Simmba was accepted to be an official remake of Temper, there were only rumours that Sooryavanshi is a remake of Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru.

A source was quoted saying that Rohit was in the process of buying rights of the Tamil hit film. The cop drama featured Karthi and Rakul Preet Singh.

However Rohit Shetty’s team has now denied all such claims and sent out a statement which read, “This is with reference to the news that has appeared in Midday, that director Rohit Shetty has bought the rights of Tamil film Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru for Sooryavanshi. This is to clarify that the news is completely untrue and baseless. Akshay Kumar starrer Sooryavanshi, which is produced and directed by Rohit Shetty, is an original story and not inspired from any film.”

Interestingly Singham too was a remake of the Tamil film Singam, which starred Suriya, Anushka Shetty and Prakash Raj. With Sooryavanshi, even though Rohit and Akshay have announced the film, they still have not even revealed the cast of the film.

It is speculated that Akshay’s Housefull 4 co-star Pooja Hegde might be part of Sooryavanshi. The cop franchise might further see the ‘Dabangg’ Salman Khan.
