RIP Saroj Khan: From National Awards to Filmfares for Best Choreography, here's list of accolades honouring 'Masterji'

Saroj Khan has won three National Film Awards for Best Choreography.

Saroj Khan was one of the most celebrated choreographers in Indian cinema. She was a legend who gave Bollywood several unforgettable hook steps which have gone down in history. Even the coming generations will be dancing on those songs choreographer by her as she changed the face of Bollywood dancing. In her career spanning of four decades, Saroj Khan has worked with several actors of the Indian cinema. During her tenure as a choreographer, she has won several accolades too.

Saroj Khan was a recipient of three National Awards in Best Choreography category. She won it for 'Dola Re Dola' from Devdas in 2002. Then she won it for all the songs from 2006 Tamil movie Sringaram which also marked Aditi Rao Hydari's debut in the language. The last National Award she won was for 'Yeh Ishq Haaye' song from 2008 film Jab We Met and the track was picturised mainly on Kareena Kapoor Khan.

Saroj Khan has been bestowed with several Filmfare Awards too for the movies - Tezaab (1989), Chaalbaaz (1990), 'Humko Aaj Kal Hai Intezaar' song from Sailaab (1991), Beta (1993), Khalnayak (1994), Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (2000), Devdas (2003) and Guru (2008).

In the year 1998, Khan was also given Nandi Awards for choreographing a song from Choodalani Vundi starring Chiranjeevi, Soundarya, Prakash Raj and Anjala Zaveri in the lead roles. 

Whereas in 2002, she won American Choreography Award in Outstanding Achievement in Feature Film for Aamir Khan starrer Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India
