Richa Chadha meets adult film star Shakeela in Bangalore before starting work on the biopic

Several biopics are currently in production and Richa Chadha is the latest actor to have joined the bandwagon. The actress was in news recently as she beat Swara Bhasker and Huma Qureshi to bag the lead role in the biopic of Shakeela, a 1990s' actress from Kerala who featured in several adult films in Tamil, Telugu, Malyalam and Kannada languages. 

Richa recently met Shakeela in Bangalore for the first time. Both the real and reel Shakeela spent a lot of time together and had a great time bonding and understanding each other. Shakeela shared anecdotes from her early days and her long career, giving the Fukrey actress all the details she would need to play the part to perfection. 

Best known for her adult films, Shakeela became a rage overnight after her first mainstream film 'Playgirls' in which she acted alongside Silk Smitha. She was the first female actor in the male-dominated Malayalam film industry to enjoy this kind of popularity. Shakeela's story would defintely make for a compelling celluloid tale. 

The film is being currently shot in Thirthahalli, a small village in Karnataka. Directed by Indrajit Lankesh, it is slated for a 2019 release.
