Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer Gully Boy is having a great run at the box office. The film is the third consecutive hit for Zoya Akhtar after Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and Dil Dhadakne Do. In three weeks of its release, Gully Boy minted Rs 131.30 crore at the domestic market. The movie is based on the rap scenes of Mumbai and Zoya took inspiration from Divine and Naezy, who even made a huge contribution to the film through their immense talent.

Gully Boy's end was imperfectly perfect and people longed to see more. Well, there's good news! Zoya is planning on to make a sequel to her latest directorial. Talking about the same, she stated to a portal, "My co-writer Reema Kagti and I do feel there’s so much more to be said on the entire hip-hop culture in our country. And another film exploring the theme is being scripted and planned".

An interesting fact is that Gully Boy is Zoya's first directorial which doesn't feature her brother and multitalented actor, Farhan Akhtar. Moreover, he won't be even a part of the sequel as well. Zoya further said, "He just didn’t fit into Gully Boy. And we’re both sorry about it. Also, his image from the Rock On series is affiliated to an entirely different genre of music. It would have been a bit of a culture shock for the audience to suddenly see him swerve from stadium-rock to hip-hop."

Apart from Ranveer and Alia, Gully Boy also starred Vijay Raaz, Kalki Koechlin and debutant Siddhanth Chaturvedi in pivotal roles.
