'Piku' isn't Amitabh Bachchan's first film with Shoojit Sircar. After the filmmaker's debut in 2005 with 'Yahaan', the filmmaker shot a film called 'Shoebite' with Sarika and Big B in the lead. This road film was produced by Percept Picture Company and was titled 'Johnny Walker' at the time. Due to some tiffs, UTV Motion Pictures stepped in as producer. After a legal battle between the two production houses the film got delayed.

The two talented people reunited for National-Award winning film, Pink produced by Sircar. But 'Shoebite' being still awaits a release and that hurts the two.

On Saturday, Big B took to Twitter requesting producers to release the film. The 75-year-old star tweeted, “PLEASE .. PLEASE … PLEASE .. Utv & Disney , or whoever else has it .. Warners , whoever .. JUST RELEASE THIS FILM .. !! lot of hard labour been put in ..???? don’t KILL creativity !!” His tweet was accompanied by two posters of the film.

Shoojit Sircar,  who is gearing up for the release of 'October' starring Varun Dhawan and Banita Sandhu, also jumped in the campaign to save his film. In an interview to IndianExpress, the filmmaker out of desperation even said he is ready to sell his home and pay for the film's release. He said, “It’s now Disney UTV and Fox. Earlier they were separate entities but they are under one umbrella.. they should absolutely do it (release the film). Mr Bachchan and I have been pleading.. I think Ronnie Screwwala should come forward and resolve it for us as he was the producer and the presenter of the film." He further added “Also I am also ready to sell my home and pay them to release the film.. purely for Mr Bachchan, my crew and technicians.”

Hope, the producers are reading this.
