One of the most heartbreaking incidents that made news in recent times, is the case of Pakeezah actress Geeta Kapoor being abandoned by her son in a hospital. The shocking incident came to light when the hospital bill reached a hefty sum of Rs 1.5 lakh and the hospital filed a complaint with the police after a month.
What actually happened was, Geeta's son Raja admitted her to Goregaon's SRV Hospital on April 21 for treatment of her falling blood pressure. When he was asked to make a deposit at the hospital, he went out on the pretext of looking for an ATM and never came back. Multiple attempts made by the hospital to contact Raja and Geeta's daughter Pooja went in vain. Reportedly, Raja even moved out of their flat soon after leaving Geeta in the hospital.
Now, filmmaker and CBFC member Ashoke Pandit and producer Ramesh Taurani have settled the hospital bills. As per recent reports, Geeta has now been discharged from the hospital and has been shifted to an old age home in Andheri West after acquiring an NOC from the government.
Mr. Pandit spoke to The Indian Express and informed, "We just shifted Geetaji to Jeevan Asha Old Age Home in Andheri. She is stable, but still cries every now and then and enquires about her son. She keeps on asking how Raja left her in the hospital like this, she is inconsolable. However, we have managed to settle her. The old age home is good, she will be taken care of properly, there is a hospital within the old age home in case of an emergency.” He told PTI, "The family has disappeared; the son has switched off his phone. The saddest part is, she is still calling out his name, and says 'my son might be just downstairs, he can't go anywhere.' It's heartbreaking for me to see that."
He also took to Twitter to inform about the well being of the yesteryear actress, who has acted in Razia Sultan along with Pakeezah.
