It's been over a few month since Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor’s Padmavati has been embroiled in controversy. It refuses to die down even after the makers have postponed the release of the film which was scheduled to hit screens on December 1st initially.

Not just fringe groups even political leaders are unhappy with distortion of history in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus. They have been protesting against the filmmaker and lead actress Deepika for taking creative liberties in the portrayal of Queen Padmini. Even Bhansali's video confirming that his film doesn't have anything objectionable and is a tribute to the Queen of Chittorgarh, the protestors didn't calm down

Latest we hear is that Padmavati will hit theatres early next year. Speculations are rife that the film will release in between February and April. But it's not going to be an easy ride for team Padmavati. They have to cross a few hurdles before the film reaches audience.

As industry tracker and trade analyst Ramesh Bala mentioned on Twitter, “.@viacom18 will release #Padmavati early next year. 1. Censor certificate has to be obtained. 2. Political and Protest situations will be taken into account. 3. A Suitable Free Friday date needs to be identified. 4. @viamcom USA HQ will make the final call.” By the looks of it, clearly the Viacom’s top brass will now take a decision after assessing all the possibilities. We wonder if the political scenario and the protests will die down or not?

In the meantime, everyone including Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Sanjay Leela Bhansali have been told to refrain from talking about the protests and the film.Shahid Kapoor had recently said that eventually Padmavati will come out in full force.
