FINALLY! The wait is over. The makers of the most awaited movie of the year, Padmavati have unveiled it's official trailer and need we say that we're blown away by its magnificence? Given the kind of controversies that the film has been embroiled in right from its inception, the expectations from Padmavati have been sky rocketing and the official trailer lives up to every bit of our expectations and adds even more to our anxiety.

The trailer begins with Deepika Padukone, walking in the aisle of the Chittorgarh fort as Raani Padmini in all her royal glory. The next shot introduces us to Shahid Kapoor as Maharawal Ratan Singh maintaining the poise and stature of a true blue Rajput king. We get glimpses of their equation with each other in the following shots.

Padmini can be seen fulfilling her duties as a royal Rajputana queen as well as a devoted wife. In one particular scene, she is shown sewing the headgear of Maharawal Ratan Singh. We abs-o-lutely heart the way it has been shot and the way Shahid looks at Deepika with unblinking eyes.

An then comes the menacing Ranveer Singh as Alauddin Khilji, the ruler of Khilji dynasty who attacked Chittorgarh to expand his territories and conquer the beautiful queen. What follows is a definition of the word 'Rajput' in the words of Maharawal Ratan Singh as he readies himself for the big battle with Khilji.

We're then presented with a montage of events that take place in the film, from Khilji's invasion to the palanquins being sent to the Khilji camp and of course to the impending ritual of jauhar which queen Padmini is ultimately said to have performed.

Ranveer Singh as Alauddin Khilji deserves much more than a special mention as it's evident from the trailer how much he has invested himself for the character. From his aggression to his evil laughter, you can't escape his towering presence in the Padmavati trailer.

From the dignified and royal presence of Ratan Singh and Padmini to the savagery of Khilji, the trailer just raises our expectations miles high than they already were. Every single shot re-establishes the  genius of Sanjay Leela Bhansali when it comes to telling a historic tale with so much passion and zeal. His love for top shots, wide angles and pan shots (especially in war sequences) is evident in the trailer.

Padmavati
trailer ends with Queen Padmini defining the kind of power that even a Rajput bangle has when she says, "Rajputi kangan mein utni hi taaqat hai jitni ki Rajputi talvar mein...

Another mind blowing aspect of the trailer is its terrific background score which is able to make you feel and convey what no dialogues can (goosebumps guaranteed). The film also stars Aditi Rao Hydarri and Jim Sarbh but we don't get to seem them in the trailer.

We're already short of words to express the marvel the has been created by Bhansali.

Padmavati is slated to hit the theatres on December 1, and it's already getting difficult for us to wait for that long to witness this magnificent tale unfold on the silver screens.
