Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh starrer Padmaavat is releasing this Republic Day weekend after fighting a long battle with controversies.
The star cast's bid to promote Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film is restricted to their social media accounts only to avoid any trouble in midst of fringe fury. The lead actress of the film stepped out on Tuesday afternoon to seek divine intervention at Siddhivinayak Temple in Mumbai.
Dressed in traditional and in midst of tight security, Deepika seeked blessings of Lord Ganpati for her much-awaited film and stayed in the temple's premise for around 10-15 minutes.

Padmavati now being named Padmaavat was initially supposed to be Deepika's only release for 2017 but will finally release on January 25th 2018. While finge groups continued to target Miss Padukone, the actress revealed that she is immensely proud of the film. She told news agency earlier "As a woman, I feel proud to be a part of this film, and to tell this story, which needs to be told. And it needs to be told now."
OnTuesday, once again Supreme Court gave a verdict in the favour of Padmaavat. The apex court has rejected the plea about recalling its January 18 verdict. It had ruled that no state can ban Padmaavat‘s release. Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan governments had approached the court for the same, but the Court has dismissed the plea completely. As per NDTV, the three-judge panel, headed by Chief Justice Dipak Misra ruled, “People must understand that there is a statutory body [that certified the movie], and we, too, passed an order. Better abide by it. Don’t watch the movie if you don’t want to, but there cannot be a ban on screening.”
