The makers of the upcoming movie Total Dhamaal had recently released a song ‘Mungda’ which featured Sonakshi Sinha. The song was a recreation of Helen’s song from the movie Inkaar. It was composed by well-known composer Rajesh Roshan and sung by Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle’s sister Usha Mangeshkar.

The recreation has not gone down well with the netizens, but they aren’t the only people who are disappointed. Rajesh Roshan and Usha Mangeshkar also expressed their disenchantment over the newer version of the song which features Sonakshi Sinha and Ajay Devgn.

"I think there is less of inspiration and more of perspiration in the music industry. The filmmakers have lost confidence in creating new songs," Rajesh Roshan told a daily. Recollecting about how he and Usha collaborated, the composer added, "I gave Usha Mangeshkar ji the song to sing. She sang several songs for me and was one of those competent singers who could breathe life into a tune."

Usha Mangeshkar also expressed her anger and said, "Our songs (the songs sung by the Mangeskar sisters Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle and Usha Mangeshkar) were created after a great deal of thought and they were done with sensitivity and care. To rip them off in this arbitrary manner is not correct," to which Lata Mangeshkar questioned, "We are not asked if we approve or not. No one seeks our consent before using our songs. Is that right?"

The trend of repacking old songs began in Bollywood a few years back. There are many songs like ‘Aaj Phir, Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast Mast, Gulabi Aankhen Jo Teri Dekhi, Dil Kya Kare, Saara Zamaana, Na Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai, Har Kisi Ko Nahi Milta Yahan Pyaar, Yeh Chand Sa Roshan Chehra, Laila Main Laila,  Hungama Ho Gaya, Oye Oye, Parda Hai Parda, Jaat Kahan Hai Deewane, Ajeeb Dastaan, Lag Jaa Gale, Aap Ki Nazron Ne, Kajra Mohabbat Wala, Dheere Dheere Se, An Evening In Paris’ or the last year’s most-spoken-about remixed song ‘Ek Do Teen’. In fact, Total Dhamaal has also reworked the song, ‘Paisa Yeh Paisa’, which was the first song that they unveiled. That song featured the whole cast – Anil Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit-Nene, Ajay Devgn, Riteish Deshmukh, Arshad Warsi, Javed Jaffery and Sanjay Mishra.
