The YouTube channel being launched by Om Puri's wife on his birth anniversary today would honour his memory with fans from all across the world talking about him
On Om Puri's 70th birth anniversary today, his wife Nandita Puri and son Ishan Puri have planned to honour his memory in a special way. They have launched a YouTube channel, which will be called 'Puri Baatein'.
Before unveiling the YouTube channel, Nandita had started an organization called 'The Om Puri Foundation' which tries to help people at the root level. They had also worked actively in helping COVID-19 affected families. The organization came to being after the actor's demise in 2016.
The YouTube channel 'Puri Baatein' will be inaugurated by a four-minute short film made by Ishan. The channel would also discuss Om Puri's life in movies and outside of work. In addition, fans from across the world will be given an opportunity to talk about their favourite actor.
Elaborating on the same, Nandita told Zee News Bengali, "We will remember the legendary actor from all over the world through various events throughout the year. The Om Puri Foundation will be celebrating various events in Punjab, London and Cannes, India. A number of competitions will be organized in association with different organizations."
She also mentioned that the family is waiting for the release of a few of his Hollywood films. "We are also waiting for the release of several Hollywood films in his memory, apart from Ramkamal Mukherjee's 'Rikshawala'. Hopefully, all of you will be a part of preserving the memory and legacy of Om Puri," Nandita mentioned.
Om Puri was one of the few actors who worked with legends Satyajit Ray, Shyam Benegal, Govinda Nihalani, Mrinal Sen as well as contemporary directors like Farhan Akhtar and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. He was also among those who had expanded his zone beyond Bollywood films.
