Last night Raveena Tandon Thadani was awarded the Best Critic award for her role in Maatr, by the Dadasaheb Phalke Academy, for her performance in Maatr, at the 148th Dadasaheb Phalke Academy Jayanti Celebration, in the Bhaidas Auditorium at Vile Parle.

Raveena says, “I had no clue I was getting the award. I was reading about Priyanka Chopra getting the award when I got their letter. I am glad that I waited for the right film and have got reviews saying I am top of the game. That kind of appreciation is better than why did she come back to do such a trashy film?”

It's said that her film is very similar to Sridevi's Mom which is about a mother taking revenge for her daughter's rape. Raveena adds, “I have heard Mom is very different from Maatr. Mom is a courtroom drama and not a vendetta film and there are no comparisons. I am proud that films like Mom, Pink and Maatr are being made today and we are not only making commercial entertainers but picking up topics that are relevant and get people to think. It's a great time for women in Indian cinema that we are getting to choose relevant films that talk about society.”
