Now, it can be told: Boney Kapoor was offered Lamhe opposite Sridevi!

Believe it or not Yash Chopra planned to cast Sridevi with Boney Kapoor! The film was Lamhe, considered one of Sridevi’s most accomplished performances to date. No, it wasn’t Anil Kapoor’s role that the director wanted to cast Boney in. It was the other role, the one of Sridevi’s beloved played by model Deepak Malhotra.

Says an insider,  “It was one of those brainwaves that Yashji had. He asked Boney to play Sridevi’s beloved in Lamhe. Unfortunately or fortunately, Boney couldn’t do the role.”

Incidentally, he wanted to cast Sridevi, after Chandni and Lamhe, in Veer-Zara with Amitabh Bachchan. The roles eventually went to Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta.
