After winning our hearts over in Anushka Sharma's Phillauri, singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh is all geared up for his next Bollywood outing, titled Soorma. Diljit will next be seen portraying the role of Sandeep Singh, the iconic Indian Hockey player in the film directed by Shaad Ali.

The first poster of the film hit the web in November last year and we can’t help but say that Diljit is certainly all geared up to make it big in the Hindi film industry too. But not many know that Diljit wasn't the first choice for Soorma.

As per a report in Times of India, Ranveer Singh was offered the lead role in the biopic by Chitrangada Singh but the actor turned it down due to his packed-schedule. Talking about it, Sandeep aka Flicker Singh told the daily, "It took a lot of effort for Chitrangada Singh to put this project together. She met a lot of filmmakers, actors and writers for the project. We wanted someone who looks real while playing me on screen. Diljit pagwala (turbaned) banda hai, main bhi hoon. Back in those days when we had started work on the project, Diljit paaji was not doing Hindi movies. He was a pure Punjabi artiste then. So, at that time, Ranveer Singh was the actor we were all keen on."

Meanwhile, the film will also feature Judwaa 2 actor Taapsee Pannu, making it the first time that Diljit and Taapsee share the screen space. Reportedly, the film went on floors in October 2017 and with such an interesting cast, we are certainly looking forward to this project. The film is reportedly set to release on 29th June, 2018.
