Not Aditya Roy Kapur, Sidharth Malhotra was to be paired opposite Alia Bhatt in 'Sadak 2'?

Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt is returning on the director's seat with Sadak 2 and we are excited for the sequel of the 1991 Sadak, for more reasons than one! 

And as the filmmaker rings in his 70th birthday on Thursday, the official announcement today, absolutely makes sense. 

While the sequel already has us rooting for the comeback of the original pair- Sanjay Dutt and Pooja Bhatt, we are even more excited about Alia Bhatt and Aditya Roy Kapur having hopped onboard.

Even though we know for a fact that Alia and Aditya will make for an amazing pair on screen, did you know that the Raazi actress' Student Of The Year co-star Sidharth Malhotra was the first choice to play the character that will now be essayed by the charming Aashiqui 2 actor?

In fact, a source was quoted by Bollywoodlife.com as saying, "Earlier, there were speculations that Sidharth and Alia are doing Mohit Suri's next directorial project, Aashiqui 3, but the film has been put on hold. Instead, Vishesh Films has cast them for Sadak 2." 

And now, cut to today, Sidharth Malhotra is nowhere in the picture! 

We wonder what must have transpired for Sidharth's exit from the project! 

Well, an industry insider told the website that it was apparently Sid and Alia's alleged break-up that manifested into a fallout. 

It was after that, that the actor had to bid goodbye to the Vishesh Film project. 

Albeit, while the duo never went on to admit their relationship and the break-up, we know for a fact that something was brewing between them!
