Anurag Basu’s next directorial venture, which is produced by Bhushan Kumar, went on floors last month. The anthology, which comprises four stories, boasts of an ensemble cast including Saif Ali Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Rajkummar Rao, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Aditya Roy Kapur. The filming kick-started with AB Junior’s story.
The Manmarziyaan actor’s part is different from that of everyone else. Reveals a source, “Abhishek doesn’t have a heroine opposite him in the film. In fact, his is the only segment in the anthology that doesn’t have a romantic angle. He has shot some portions in Kolkata and will resume work now that he’s back from his holiday to Goa with wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and daughter Aaradhya.”
Last month, his look in the film was leaked from the sets in Kolkata and many fans felt it was reminiscent of Lallan, the character that he played in Mani Ratnam’s Yuva (2004). “He plays a local goon. Hence, he has this look throughout the film. The plot revolves around his backstory, which is quite emotional,” adds the source.
While Bachchan Junior has begun shooting, dates of the remaining cast need to be figured out. “Starting with Abhishek was easier because he didn’t have a co-star. As for Saif, Rajkummar and Aditya, they have committed their dates to other projects. So, whenever they have time off, Anurag plans to shoot their portions,” informs our khabri.
