2018 has been a momentous year for Ranveer Singh personally as well as professionally. Apart from acting in one of the biggest blockbusters of this year and having as many as 26 endorsements in his kitty, he also tied the knot with his ladylove Deepika Padukone in a fairy tale-like wedding. The actor is excited to kick-start 2019 on a high note. He will shoot back-to-back for two interesting projects — Kabir Khan’s 83 (the biopic of former cricketer Kapil Dev) and Karan Johar’s historical drama Takht. The exuberant performer is not only excited to work for the first time with these renowned filmmakers, but also undergo a physical metamorphosis for the two diametrically-opposite roles. However, he’s a bit sad that he won’t share screen space with his better half in 2019.
Ranveer says, “My wife and I will not have a film together this year. I’m hoping that filmmakers will approach the two of us with a script that we like and can take it forward. I’m looking forward to sharing screen space with her.”
‘Deepika is one of the finest actors of Bollywood’
The 33-year-old’s eyes light up when he talks about Deepika, who is the numero uno actress of Bollywood. He smiles and exclaims, “She is one of the finest actors we have and her true potential hasn’t been tapped into yet. There is so much she has brought to her roles and so much she can bring. There’s an emotional depth to her that hasn’t been explored. There is a lot of enrichment that one receives from a generous co-actor like her. I know that whenever this film with the two of us happens, it is going to shine and believe me, I’m excited about it.”
‘The chemistry between us is extra special’
It might be recalled that the duo’s love story started on the sets of Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram Leela (2013), following which they went on to deliver two more blockbusters — Bajirao Mastani (2015) and Padmaavat (2018). Referring to it, Ranveer mentions, “The chemistry between us is extra special. It has been seen and proven. Much as I am truly, madly and deeply in love with her, I am aching to act with Deepika again. As a fan of her work, I have been waiting patiently for her to commit to a film. And, I’m truly overjoyed that she has committed to working with Meghna Gulzar on Chhapaak. In fact, when she told me that she had liked the script and would be acting as well as co-producing it, I said, ‘Hallelujah! She has finally liked something.’”
The Simmba actor, who can’t stop raving about his beautiful wife, adds, “I want to see her on screen. I get very excited about her work. It would be awesome if someone came along with a script that both of us found exciting. I will jump at it and I’m guessing she will also like to do it.”
