After the initial euphoria settles down, the thing that keeps people hooked to celeb weddings is the question of whether the female will change her surname. And since Sonam Kapoor became Sonam K Ahuja and Priyanka Chopra became Priyanka Chopra Jonas, the question became all the more pertinent for Deepika Padukone

When asked whether she should be addressed as Deepika Padukone Bhavnani or Deepika Padukone Singh, the actress had jokingly said in a Filmfare interview that it's her husband Ranveer Singh who would take her surname and not vice versa.

However, in a recent interview with Hindustan Times, when questioned if Ranveer is indeed altering his name, Deepika said:

“It’s not true. In fact, after that interview I realised that it’s a conversation Ranveer and I’ve never even had. So, we haven’t been like, ‘oh, do you think you should change your surname?’ That [chat about it in an interview] was, of course, a candid joke of sorts. It has never crossed either of our minds. When I was asked about it, I was like, ‘oh, we haven’t even thought about it’."

"Maybe because it’s not important. Also, I’ve worked extremely hard to create my own identity and so has he. So, my question is, ‘why would he have to do that?’ I think what people see of us is a very minuscule part of our entire being and existence. But at the core of it, we are very alike,” Deepika said.

Meanwhile, in the latest episode of Famously Filmfare when Ranveer was asked whether he is considering altering his surname to Padukone he had said, 'Why Not?!' The 'Simmba' actor also added that he has already changed his surname once (Bhavnani to Singh) and therefore he is done with the entire surname-changing business.
