On Friday evening, Thane crime branch arrested actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui's lawyer, Rizwan Siddhique in the call data record (CDR) case. Rizwan is said to have obtained CDR of the actor's wife to spy on her and will be produced in Thane court on Saturday.

The actor, however, did not present himself in spite of being summoned by the cops as per reported by DNA earlier. But now Mumbai Police Commisioner has come out to clear his name in the case. Parambir Singh told ANI that Nawazuddin Siddhique has no direct role in the Call Data Record (CDR) case. He was summoned as a witness and has assured cooperation.
Thane police busted the CDR racket on January 24 with the arrest of four detectives of Globe detective agency, Vashi. The call date of the Siddiqui's wife was obtained through the detective agency. This was followed by the arrest of five more people which include detectives and hackers. This comes in between reports of marital discord between Nawazuddin and his wife which surfaced earlier this month.
Nawazuddin has maintained silence over the matter and recently expressed his disgust over media queries about this ongoing case. He posted his picture with his daughter and captioned it, "Last evening, I was helping my daughter to prepare her school project Hydroelectric Power Generator & went to her school this morning for Project Exhibition. To my surprise the media had questions about some random allegations on me #Disgust"
On work front, the actor will be seen in Netflix series 'Sacred Games', Manto biopic and film based on life and times of Balasaheb Thakrey. Reports also suggest that he will be playing the role of baddie in Hrithik Roshan's superhero film 'Krrish 4'
