Television actor, Mohit Raina, popularly known as ‘Mahadev’ is all set to make his Bollywood debut with RSVP’s Uri: The Surgical Strike. The film is based on the 2016 Indian Army’s surgical strike on terrorist camps in Pakistan in retaliation for the terror attack on an army camp in Uri in Jammu & Kashmir.

Bringing to screen one of the biggest events in the history of Indian army,  Aditya Dhar’s directorial Uri depicts the reality behind the surgical strike by the Indian Army on Pakistan. Mohit plays the key role of captain Karan Kashyap — a husband, father and Vicky Kaushal’s brother-in-law. The actor’s portrayal of the character — Captain’s fight against terrorist attacks by Pakistan in Uri will evoke emotions and strike a chord with the audience.

Hailing from Jammu, Mohit feels strongly for the country and how our armed forces deal with the issue of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.  The actor was emotionally moved when he heard the script and the realities of 2016 surgical  strikes, and decided to take up this role as there couldn’t have been a better launch pad in movies than Uri.

Mohit also underwent intense training where he had to shed a few kilos to look apt for his character.  During the course of training with the army, Mohit even interacted with them asking about their lives and how they go about their duties.

The director took six months to do extensive research and flesh out the script even before he decided he wanted to direct this film. The script detailed out the events minutely, which was approved immediately by ADG PI (Additional Directorate General of Public Information).

For the first time in the history of  Indian army, our nation took an initiative to attack an enemy, making the strike more special. The response to the trailer has been overwhelming and they are looking forward to the movie.

Uri is one of the most anticipated films and it is the first film of Bollywood to release in 2019. The film stars Vicky Kaushal in the lead role with an ensemble cast including Paresh Rawal, Yami Gautam, and Kirti Kulhari among others.
