Late actress Sridevi’s daughter Janhvi Kapoor took to social media on Monday to announce that Madhuri Dixit will be stepping into her mother’s shoes for Abhishek Varman’s next.

“Abhishek Varman’s next film was very close to mom’s heart ...Dad, Khushi and I are thankful to Madhuriji for now being a part of this beautiful film...” Janhvi wrote on Instagram and posted a picture of Sridevi and Madhuri together from the sets of a dance reality show.

While Janhvi announced that Madhuri will replace Sridevi, she did not mention the film’s title and it took no time for the netizens to speculate that the film in question must be Karan Johar’s much-awaited project, Shiddat.

Amidst all this, Karan Johar issued a clarification that the film is not titled Shiddat. “Some clarifications!!! Yes...we are honoured and humbled to have @MadhuriDixit on board for @abhivarman ‘s next! NO the film is NOT titled SHIDHAT! Yes the film will Commence shoot in mid April! The films final cast and credits will be announced soon!”, he tweeted.

Meanwhile, Sridevi was supposed to reunite with her Gumrah co-star after almost 25 years with Abhishek’s film, which will also star Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, and Aditya Roy Kapur.

Sridevi passed away last month in Dubai due to “accidental drowning”. Her daughter Janhvi is all set to make her debut with Karan Johar’s Dhadak opposite Ishaan Khatter.
