Despite being one of the biggest openings of 2019, Abhishek Varman's latest directorial Kalank, the film got an underwhelming response from the critics and the audience. The film had an ensemble cast of Madhuri Dixit, Sonakshi Sinha, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sanjay Dutt and it was co-produced by Karan Johar under his home banner Dharma Productions. The multistarrer made about Rs 95.65 crore at the domestic market.

During a recent interaction with Mid Day, when Madhuri was asked about the response Kalank got, she stated, "I have been in the industry for more than three decades. Ups and downs are a part and parcel of our work. So, it doesn't bother me much when a film doesn't work."

Many people had great expectations from the film which wasn't delivered. To which Madhuri replied, "Everybody gave their best. No one goes to the sets to do a half-hearted job. But in the end, certain things aren't in our control. We have to move on. The film was received well overseas."

Meanwhile, on the work front, Madhuri will be returning to the tube with the dance-based reality show, Dance Deewane season 2 alongside Tushar Kalia and Dhadak director Shashank Khaitan. The show was launched on Monday and it is set to go on air from June 15, 2019.

This year Madhuri had two releases and both were multistarrer. One an out-and-out comedy film Total Dhamaal and the latest being Kalank.
