After Hrs had earlier reported about Ekta Kapoor producing a film with Vidya Balan and Bhumi Pednekar. Back then, this project was to be helmed by Bareilly Ki Barfi director, Ashwini Iyer Tiwary. But it changed hands and will now be made by Alankrita Shrivastava (of Lipstick Under My Burkha fame).
While Bhumi remains in the cast, Vidya won’t feature in the movie. A source reveals, “Konkona Sensharma has been signed on for the other female lead’s part. The character needed to be essayed by a powerful actor, and when the think tank at the production house was discussing whom they should pitch the film to, they felt Koko (as Konkona is fondly called) would suit the part really well.”
The insider adds that much like Alankrita’s last film, this one, too, is about two powerful and rebellious women and has a very desi flavour. When the Ek Thi Daayan actress was offered the part, she is said to have ‘loved the role’. “Alankrita also wanted Konkona in the film, given that they have already worked together in Lipstick Under My Burkha last year. She has signed on the dotted line. In fact, both Bhumi and Konkona shot for the picture announcing the film earlier this week itself,” the source adds.
