The year that went by saw several celeb sweethearts taking saat pheras. While many couples chose to keep it hush-hush, others had a grand celebration. Here are the picture-perfect moments of this year...
VIRAT KOHLI AND ANUSHKA SHARMA
Will they, won’t they? While people were speculating whether the two would tie the knot in 2017 or 2018, the couple went about making the preparations quietly. The wedding took place in Italy in the presence of close family members. But both Anushka and Virat wanted their friends to be a part of their life’s biggest event, so they hosted two receptions. While one took place in Delhi, the other was held in Mumbai. Both were star-studded affairs.
NAGA CHAITANYA AND SAMANTHA RUTH PRABHU
After dating each other for a long time, south superstars Samantha Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya finally got married on October 6.
The couple opted for a lavish destination wedding in Goa. For the Hindu rituals, Samantha wore Naga Chaitanya’s grandmother’s sari and teamed it with gold ornaments, including a waistband and armbands, while for the Christian wedding she wore a light purple gown, designed by Kresha Bajaj and accentuated her look with a diamond necklace. The fairytale-like wedding had fans in a frenzy on social media.
RUKMINI AND NEIL NITIN MUKESH
Neil and Rukmini were introduced to each other by their parents. The wedding took place on February 9 in Udaipur and was followed by a reception in Mumbai. The couple decided to have a full-fledged Hindu ceremony complete with haldi, mehendi, and sangeet. Neil’s mother, Nishi Nitin Mukesh, even designed Rukmini’s lehenga for the mehendi ceremony.
SAGARIKA GHATGE AND ZAHEER KHAN
Zaheer and Sagarika opted for a simple court marriage and followed it up with a lavish reception that saw several cricketers and stars in attendance. Sagarika looked ethereal in all the ceremonies where she mainly sported lehengas in pastel hues.
VATSAL SHETH AND ISHITA DUTT
Vatsal and Ishita, who met on the sets of their show Rishton Ka Saudagar Baazigar, got married on November 28 at ISKCON temple in Mumbai. Bobby Deol, Tanishaa Mukerji, Kajol and Ajay Devgn were among the guests who attended the wedding.
RIYA SEN AND SHIVAM TEWARI
Riya Sen tied the knot with her boyfriend Shivam Tewari in a hush-hush ceremony in August. In an interview, Riya said that the decision to get married was quite spontaneous. “He just woke up one morning and said: Let’s get married NOW,” she added.
MANDANA KARIMI AND GAURAV GUPTA
Mandana Karimi and her long-term boyfriend Gaurav Gupta had a court marriage before they tied the knot in March. However, within a few months the actress filed a case of domestic violence against her husband. The two have been estranged since then.
NAUHEED CYRUSI AND RUSTOM
Veejay-turned-actress Nauheed and her beau Rustom lived in the same colony and were badminton buddies for long. The couple tied the knot after three years of courtship in a traditional Parsi ceremony at the historic Seth Jeejeebhoy Dadabhoy Agiary in Colaba.
