Ranveer Singh is currently shooting for '83 in which he will be seen playing Kapil Dev.
Riding high on the success of his last three films, Ranveer Singh has now moved on to his next most anticipated film - Kabir Khan directorial '83. The Gully Boy actor will be seen playing Kapil Dev in the film based on India's historic victory in 1983 Cricket World Cup.
In his recent interview, Ranveer, who made is Bollywood debut opposite Anushka Sharma in Band Baaja Baaraat, opened up about his early days in the industry and shared an anecdote from his audition days. The actor recalled how he puked towards the end of the audition but still managed to impress the filmmaker.
Femina magazine quoted Ranveer as saying, "After Band Baaja Baaraat, a prominent filmmaker was auditioning me for a significant part in his project. The scene was that a character who is a teetotaller, happens to drink one night, and starts dancing. I performed and danced my heart out. Such was the intensity that I puked at the end. The filmmaker thought it was sheer brilliance. He said, ‘Kitni detail mein socha hai iss ladke ne’.”
Ranveer also told the magazine that his struggling days in Bollywood have given him some of the fondest memories of his life. "Things are flying at the moment, but I will always remember the time when there was none of it; when I used to be staring at the bottom of the barrel not knowing whether that phone is ever going to ring, or if I will ever get a break," Ranveer told the mag.
He added, "Through the harsh lessons, disappointments, humiliation, rejection, one has to find something within him that keeps him going. For me, they were two things. One, I was passionate about acting, and wasn’t pursuing it for money or fame. Two, self-belief; I had to keep telling myself, ‘You’re good, you have to believe so because if you’re good and persistent, something will happen.’ Today, I value every opportunity."
As of now, Ranveer is busy filming for '83. The film also stars Deepika Padukone along side him. Ranveer had shared the first look of him as Kapil Dev on the occasion of his birthday recently, which has been gathering a lot of praises from all quarters. The film is slated to hit the silver screens in April 2020.
