Akshay Kumar is leaving no stone unturned in promoting his soon-to-be-released film, Kesari. In the film, based on the Battle of Saragarhi, the talented actor plays the role of Havildar Ishar Singh. Akshay recently visited the capital for the promotions and was elated to be back in his hometown. He even headed to the Red Fort on Tuesday morning where he was interviewed by Zee News. Akshay tweeted a photo posing against the backdrop of the Red Fort and wrote, "Privileged to have started the day with such a heartfelt interview at my favourite place in Delhi, the Red Fort with @sudhirchaudhary. This is a special one for #Kesari, coming up tonight on @ZeeNews"

During the interview, Akshay spoke at length about Kesari and also expressed his sadness on the fact that the Battle of Saragarhi is not a part of the syllabus. The actor stated, "I was upset to know that the Battle of Saragarhi is not a part of the school syllabus. There is no mention of it in our history classes. In Britain, they celebrate the Saragarhi Day but there is no such celebration here. Hence I did this film and I have never heard a story about such bravery. If you Google about the five biggest and best world battles, the third one is ours. The story of Saragarhi should be in our syllabus."

The 51-year-old actor even said that he got to know a few days back about Hollywood film 300 which has a similar plot being a fictitious flick. The talented actor said, "There was a film made in English titled '300. In that, 300 warriors fought with 10,000 Persians. I got to know a few days back that it is a fictitious tale. People liked the film a lot. But in our country, 21 soldiers fought and this is no fiction! It is real... My heart swells with pride when I listen to such stories."

Kesari is directed by Anurag Singh and stars Parineeti Chopra as the female lead.
