Who can forget the golden days of their childhood! Jagjit Singh's popular ghazal "Ye daulat bhi le lo, ye shohrat bhi le lo , Bhale cheen lo mujhse meri jawaani , Magar mujhko lauta do bachchpan ka saawan , Wo kagaz ki kashti wo barish ka pani' brings back the memories of simpler times.
And now Kalki Koechlin who is gearing up for the release of her film Ribbon with Sumit Vyas got nostalgic about her childhood days in Pondicherry. The film which explores the life changing journey of a couple learning to adapt to the new role of becoming a parent. Kalki's character struggles to balance between changing diapers and her career. Touched by the character she plays in the film, the Dev D actress decided to share her own childhood story. In a long Facebook post Kalki jolted down her beautiful journey from an 'unconventional birth' to 'unconventional queen' of Bollywood now.
Kalki wrote, “After I was done filming Ribbon, which was such an intense experience, I remembered what my father once told me. He said that when a woman is giving birth, what she goes through is so intense, that no matter how supportive you want to be as a husband, your best bet is to just look busy as hell to try and get over the sheer guilt of it all!”
She continued to write, " For too long now, all that mothers do raise kids, balance work and family - it's just been considered a given."
Giving intimate details about her birth in a small village near Pondicherry to being 'female mowgli' busy climbing trees. Kalki shared a heartwarming note of her childhood when kids were brought up in a gadget free world and in the lap of nature. She wrote, "“I had an unconventional birth and an unconventional upbringing (of course I’m unconventional queen now, but my upbringing consisted of a strong village community, having ample space to play and an organic, friendly environment for my parents to work in while raising me. I also know that everyone is not as lucky, and every parenting journey comes with its own set of challenges. ”
