Director Meghna Gulzar is loved and appreciated in the industry for her hard-hitting and realistic dramas that she so fluidly portrays on the silver screen without losing touch with the reality behind the stories she chooses to tell.

The director had a brilliant 2019 with the release of Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal starrer Raazi a spy-thriller based on the life of an undercover RAW agent who is married into a Pakistani family by her father to acquire valuable information about the enemy.

Raazi was a superhit with both fans and critics appreciating Meghna for her storytelling and making unusual cinema.

Now the director is all set for the release of Chhapaak starring Deepika Padukone in the lead role. Chhapaak is based on the life of Laxmi Agarwal who is an acid attack survivor.

However, in a recent interview when the director was asked about the films she would like to make in the future, Meghna said that she wouldn't mind directing an over-the-top family entertainer such as Golmaal or Simmba.

"I do wish to make a comedy, I really would love to, because that takes talent. I do not think I have it right now in my mind! Also, I do not think I have the craft for it. But I would love to!" Meghna said.

"I mean, look at the kind of visual it has when Ranveer Singh enters," she said, recalling Rohit Shetty's Simmba.

Meanwhile, Deepika Padukone and Vikrant Massey starrer Chhapaak is all set to release on January 10 and will lock horns with Ajay Devgn, Saif Ali Khan, and Kajol starrer Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior.
