Sanjay Leela Bhansali film Padmaavat is all set to go down in history. Not just for it's ordeal and tryst with cotnroversies before Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh starrer released on January 25th but also for being a turning point for Indian Cinema.

Gender inequality has been the burning toping in showbiz, not just in Hollywood but even Bollywood actresses like Anushka Sharma and Kangana Ranaut have been vocal about gender disparity in pay. But Deepika 'Padmavati' Padukone has managed to break the stereotype. On Vogue BFFs, Neha Dhupia asked Deepika Padukone if she was paid more than Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor for 'Padmaavat' and the actress said, ‘YES.’

Miss Padukone also added, “Talking about my remuneration for me is not exciting. I am confident and comfortable in what I get paid. But something that I am extremely proud is the fact that they have invested so much money on a film like this and a poster like this, featuring me on it. That makes me proud and that for me is hugely encouraging. It’s the turning point for Indian Cinema, I haven’t seen this happen before. I think this is the beginning of great things and a lot of amazing and great things to happen to women in films.”

In an interview to DNA AfterHrs earlier, Deepika Padukone spoke about the best compliment she has received for her performance in Padmaavat. She said, "Well, it’s a bit awkward but it would have to be the one given to me by Javed Akhtar saab. He said, ‘This is your Mother India.’ I just bowed my head in front of him. Sanjay Leela Bhansali sir was also present when he said it."
