It's official! Shahid Kapoor is part of 'Jersey' remake & his first look in role of cricketer is as hot as 'Kabir Singh'

While there were always speculations that Shahid Kapoor was part of Jersey, even Karan Johar's name was linked to the project however he is not associated with it

Ever since Shahid Kapoor has given a blockbuster in Kabir Singh, there were speculations over his next project. While the actor never clearly announced, reports suggested he will be working in another South Indian remake of the film Jersey.

It is now official that Shahid Kapoor is indeed part of Jersey, which originally starred Nani in the lead role. The story is a sports-based drama revolving around a cricketer's life. However, speculations were also rife that Karan Johar would be part of the project. The filmmaker had constantly denied the news, and he indeed is in no way associated with the project.

An official statement was released by the film's PRO which stated that the movie is once again helmed by Gowtham Tinnanuri and co-produced by Allu Aravind, Aman Gill, and Dil Raju. Alongside, Shahid Kapoor's first look from the film has been released. In this look, Shahid Kapoor is seen in a white jersey, holding the bat to his shoulder while a headband is tied over his hair. The actor dons some stubble in the film too.

The yet-untitled remake of Nani's Jersey is slated for the 28th August 2020 release. Interestingly his previous film Kabir Singh too was a remake of Telugu blockbuster Arjun Reddy, which featured Vijay Deverakonda in the lead role. Both the films too were helmed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga.
