Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh hosted a reception for their friends and colleagues from the film industry in Mumbai which was not attended by Ranbir Kapoor
After tying the knot with boyfriend of six years, Ranveer Singh, during an intimate ceremony at Lake Como in Italy on November 14 and 15, attended by family and close friends, actress Deepika Padukone, along with hubby dear, hosted one of the three wedding receptions in Mumbai.
The reception was attended by friends and colleagues of the couple from the film industry.
The lavish bash saw a deluge of stars from the film industry, including Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karan Johar, Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif, Anushka Sharma, among several others.
However, Deepika Padukone's ex-boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor was nowhere to be seen.
The actor and his current girlfriend Alia Bhatt, both were missing from the do.
It was earlier reported that Ranbir and Alia couldn't attend the function because they were busy with their upcoming film Brahmastra, however, a recent report in Bollywood Hungama suggests that it has nothing to do with the film's shooting.
In fact, the real reason why Ranbir gave the reception a miss were the jokes about the actor singing Channa Mereya at Deepika's wedding.
Ever since the news about Deepika and Ranveer Singh's marriage broke out, multiple jokes and memes on Ranbir Kapoor attending their wedding reception and singing Channa Mereya having been doing rounds.
A friend of the Kapoor family told the portal, "The joke about Ranbir singing and dancing to Channa Mereya at Deepika Padukone–Ranveer Singh wedding got to Ranbir. He doesn’t appreciate the public image of the serial dater who never gets the girl. Ranbir is now looking for permanence in his relationship. And you are right. The image of loser in love through his roles doesn’t help. He just decided to stay away from Deepika and Ranveer’s wedding reception although both of them had invited him personally and urged him to come."
Looks like Ranbir Kapoor is now looking forward to attending only his wedding!
