Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar’s recent release Toilet: Ek Prem Katha has got the film’s leading lady entry into the Rs100 crore club. For a girl, who began her career with a sleeper hit Dum Laga Ke Haisha, it is a big leap.

‘I get goosebumps’
How is Bhumi reacting, to the Rs100 crore heroine’ tag? “It is indeed very exciting. That said, all of it comes with a lot of responsibility as well. Toilet: Ek Prem Katha has worked well due to content and this is what resulted in a very good word-of-mouth. I guess that’s going to be the thing in future. Films need to be high on content to make any impact. I feel so lucky that the film is a revolution. Ten years down the line, I can proudly say that I was a part of this,” she says.

Transition tales
Bhumi can no more be referred to as a one-film-wonder. She says, “The only way for any performer to survive is that your film should do well. Toilet: Ek Prem Katha doing well has calmed me down. I was very anxious as this was just my second film and in a way, as good as my first film. I go by my sensibilities and to see my performance get appreciated is really important for me.”
Think before you sign
“I really rack my brains before I sign films,” adds Bhumi, “Not that all my choices would be correct. There may be a time when I may not see the success I expect. I know that DLKH, TEPK or a Shubh Mangal Savdhaan can’t be made again. I choose the kind of films that I like watching. There is a certain sensibility that I carry. I have to keep telling the world that I am not a fluke and I am here for a long innings.”
