I want to sing for Amit Trivedi again: Shalmali Kholghade

Shalmali Kholghade may be nailing every Bollywood song she sings but believe it or not, before her debut with Pareshaan (Ishaqzaade) five years ago, she didn’t think she could ever sing in Hindi, in spite of being a trained Hindustani classical vocalist. Shalmalee says, “There used to be so many singing events and festivals that I used to take part in but other than that, I thought I could never sing in Hindi.”

It was only when Amit Trivedi gave her Pareshaan, did she realise that she could pull it off, which has been the biggest revelation for her in her career yet. She adds, “It was a strange feeling. I felt that I was singing an English song with Hindi lyrics as the song is very western and rock.”

Since Shalmali hasn’t sung a song composed by Amit in a while, she really hopes to do that soon. “I will thank my stars if I get to sing for him again soon,” she says.
