Shahid Kapoor (37) has been working from the age of 22. He has career milestones like Kaminey (2009), Haider (2014), Udta Punjab (2016) and several more. He also acknowledges that he has had a few not-so-happening films.

However, his important takeaway in all this is the fact that he has been around for 15 years and in this period, he has learnt a lot. He says, “I may not be the biggest actor, but if my saying something can make a movie happen, then why not? I’m accessible today; anyone can approach me. I have a certain market and a basic place in the Bollywood hierarchy. So, it’s left to me to see if I make the right choices to achieve my goal. I can make things happen and I want to make them happen.’’

Sasha adds that actors can no longer just be actors. They need to take things a step forward. He states, “My understanding of what is required today is not just about being an actor. It’s important to recognise content. The biggest stars are those who attach themselves to the right content. Fundamentally, people want to watch good films. A big star will bring in big numbers at the onset. But the audience wants content, even if it picks up on the third day. They are not interested in the direction in which cinema is heading, they want to watch good content. So it’s important for an actor to participate and be a part of the process that allows it to happen. If you feel a good film is being made, you should do it. If you feel a story should be told, go out there and make it happen. I’m in that space now.”
