Huma Qureshi’s latest release, Partition 1947, has been banned in Pakistan. The film, which released in India last Friday, was rejected by Pakistan for being anti-Pakistan. A source close to the unit said, "The reason they have cited is that the political narrative of the film contradicts the national narrative of Pakistan."
In 2017, Pakistan has already banned four films including Jolly LLB 2, Dangal, Naam Shabana and Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees.
Gurinder Chadha’s film deals with the politics behind the Partition. Also, Benazir Bhutto’s niece Fatima who is a poet had reviewed the film calling it to be misrepresentation of historical reality. Chadha had even reacted to the review saying the film is her vision of the events leading upto India’s partition.
Recently, in response to a tweet praising her film, she replied, "I agree with you, every Indian should see the film whatever they may think of it for understanding the British agenda in 1947."
