Some classic Bollywood films are iconic, while the others are holy. However Hrishikesh Mukherjee's 'Chupke Chupke' falls in the third category - the one which is both iconic, legendary as well as holy. Not only the people from the 70s, but also the younger lot, have been witness to the fun and crazy ride.

The movie, which starred Dharmendra, Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan and Sharmila Tagore in lead roles, completed 44 years on April 11. On the occasion, Dharmendra gave an interview to Mumbai Mirror and spoke about the kind of cult it is. “Chupke Chupke was the Sholay of comedy,” he told the daily.

Dharmendra also spoke about remaking the film for the newer audiences. When asked about the same, he said, “With an intelligent writer, for sure. But it would be a challenge because so many people, young and old, have seen the original and loved it. So, it will have to be just as matchless.”

It does appear that the movie is indeed getting a remake and Rajkummar Rao would star in the newer version of the film. “Chupke Chupke is an iconic film and a favourite of many, including Rajkummar. He loved the idea of a remake and has agreed to come on board. It will have Raj in the dual avatars. The script is still being finalised, while the director and the rest of the cast are yet to be locked but the team is really excited about this one,” a source told the daily.

According to the same reports, Luv Ranjan and Bhushan Kumar would collaborate for the project. This however isn't their first collaboration. They have joined hands for Ajay Devgn's upcoming release 'De De Pyaar De' as well. Interestingly, 'Chupke Chupke' is another remake for Luv after 'Pati Patni Aur Woh'.
