Rani Mukerji makes her Bollywood comeback after four years post her last release Mardaani. The actress will be seen playing the character of Naina Mathur, who suffers from a neurological disorder called Tourette Syndrome, which makes her cause involuntary sounds and movements. Since the film is very niche in its content and appeal, Hichki is likely to rake in a figure of Rs 2 crore approx on the first day of its release.

The film has gathered positive reviews and it is being appreciated by the audience and the critics alike. Rani's performance as a teacher having a speech defect has been hailed by her fans. So a positive word of mouth should help in boosting the numbers from Saturday onwards.

Directed by Siddharth P Malhotra, Hichki has been made at a modest budget of Rs 20 crore, which should be easy to cross, considering the fan base of Rani. At the same time, the movie is not a typical masala pot-boiler, which may not work in favour of the film. It has a limited appeal which is restricted to the multiplex audience, so trade experts are not very sure if Hichki will be able to pull the masses to the theatres.

On the other hand, Hichki will also face tough competition from Ajay Devgn's Raid and Luv Ranjan's Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, which is still going pretty strong at the box office. Let's wait for the official box office figures of Hichki to be out tomorrow.
