Neerja bagged Best Film award, Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt were named best actor and actress for Udta Punjab in a star studded affair in New York...but not without many including Censor Board chief Pahlaj Nahlani  questioning the credibility of the awards show as neither Aamir Khan's Dangal nor Akshay Kumar's Rustom or Airlift were nominated at IIFA. As Nahlani said "Only those stars get an award who make it to the awards night."

The organisers of IIFA have now issued a statement to clarify the same and said the makers didn't send an entry for the 18th International Indian Film Academy awards."Basically in IIFA forms are sent to various production houses, They fill up those forms and send it back to us.These forms are put out in the industry for voting and from there it becomes a nomination. " Wizcraft Internation Director Andrew Timmis continued saying, " So Dangal had not sent their entry in. We would have loved Dangal to be a part of it. It's the movie that has broken all box office records and we loved Aamir Khan and the two girls in it. But unfortunately they didn't send their entry in."

It's a known fact that Aamir Khan has boycotted all awards shows in India, including the National Awards for the last 16 years. The superstar made an exception for the 75th Dinanath Mangeshkar awards this year, where he was honoured for his work in Dangal.
