Have Kartik Aaryan and Luv Ranjan fallen out?

When a successful filmmaker-actor team doesn’t follow up their super-successful film outing with yet another together announcement, they set tongues wagging. Says a trade source, “It is automatically assumed that ‘all is not well’ between them.’’ Kuch aisa hi ho raha hai with Kartik Aaryan and Luv Ranjan. 

For the initial part of their careers, the actor and the filmmaker seemed like Siamese Twins, joined at the hip! However, of late there are rumours that suggest that there is some tension between the two.

The Pyaar Ka Punchnama series and this year’s big surprise Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety (SKTKS) had made Luv and Kartik a formidable jodi. What set this duo apart was that they trod off the beaten path like other actor-director teams and created their own space in their area of young, practical romcoms. However, like all good things that come to an end, the buzz is that this team too has broken up. Or perhaps they are taking a longish break from each other. 

Of course, extra fertile minds are saying there is more to the story. An industry source tells us, “Kartik, apparently, was feeling too restricted at having to seek Luv’s go-ahead for every project he wanted to take on, not just when it came to movies but even brand endorsements. Initially, he felt that Luv was being concerned and cautious as a mentor and he didn’t want his protégé to suddenly lose the equity they had built for him over the years. However, over a period of time, the actor reportedly began to feel that certain things would have turned out better if he had followed his instincts and not Luv’s point of view.”

Those who are getting technical are also adding that Luv was ‘never mentoring’ Kartik. After all, the two of them started their careers around the same time. We buy that, too.

However, our informer adds, “Kartik now reportedly routes everything through the agency handling his work, specifically his manager. ”

The SKTKS actor is currently shooting for Dinesh Vijan’s Lukka Chuppi in Gwalior, while Luv is overseeing his production starring Ajay Devgn, Tabu and Rakul Preet Singh. He has lined up his next directorial with superstar Ajay and Ranbir Kapoor, which is scheduled to release on Christmas 2020. 

Perhaps Kartik has noticed he has gone missing from his mentor’s wish list. We texted Luv and Kartik to ask whether there was any stress between them or were they just taking time off from each other. 

However, neither of them replied till the time of going to press. Hoping this jodi announces a film together soon. At least, they can put an end to wagging tongues.
