She is loved by millions of people across the globe. We know her as the lady who re-incarnated the fame thirsty seductress back on screen with her role as Sonia Roy, an ambitious businesswoman which won her a Filmfare award for best performance in a negative role in Aitraaz, the wife of great warrior Bajirao - where she played Kashibai and we now know her as Alex Parrish -the American Television's' favourite actress in a new TV series' given to her at People's choice awards making her the only South Asian actress to ever bag a People's Choice Award and the only Indian actor to headline on American TV networks.

On her birthday.We give you 5 unconventional cinematic performances that changed people's perception about her acting skills:

1.Sonia Roy in Aitraaz

​In the initial years of her debut in the industry,Priyanka took up a challenging role - that of a feisty seductress who can go to any extent to get what she wants.In the film, the actress owned the screen space with her dominant presence as the lust ridden woman who deliberately charges her ex lover with a sexual harassment case. Taran Adarsh was impressed by Priyanka's stunning performance and went on to say "She sneaks her way through the role like an expert, drawing audience hatred the way a magnet collects iron filings"

2. Meghna Mathur in Fashion

The film shows Priyanka in a new light - a woman who came from a small town with dreams of making it big in the fashion industry and becoming a supermodel,the film encapsulates the journey of Meghna Mathur as she takes over the Fashion world starting it from scratch. Priyanka's role was critically appreciated by leading film critics including Rajeev Masand who was impressed by the cast commenting , "Chopra turns in a respectable performance, one that will inevitably go down as her best. The truth is, it’s one of those by-the-book characters that she understands only too well and performs just as easily". Piggy Chops won the best actress award at the 56th National Film Awards.

3. Susanna in 7 Khoon Maaf

The film was internationally recognised for Chopra's performance as the female fatale who goes on a killing spree murdering all 6 of her husbands due to different reasons.She lives in the character of Susanna so perfectly throughout the movie that one cannot make out that she is Priyanka Chopra and not Susanna. The actress received a lot of praise for the performance and went on to win the Dadasaheb Phalke Academy Awards under memorable performance category.

4. Roma in DON 2


In the second film of the Don movie series,Priyanka plays the iconic role of Roma-an Interpol officer who chases Don to avenge the deaths of her brother Ramesha and his fiancee Kamini at his hands,it was reported that she even took professional martial arts training as her character requires her to be a part of many action sequences in the film. 

5. Jhilmil Chatterjee in Barfi!

While talking about her character on Anupama Chopra's chat show, PC said - "I spent a lot of time with autistic kids in workshops.We went to schools,I videotaped them the way I wanted,to see how they laugh,when they laugh,what made them laugh.I had a lot of help from people who I know as well who gave me information.I read a lot and then Jhilmil got created." It is no wonder she pulled off the toughest role as described by Anurag Basu in her entire acting career. 

The actress was appreciated for her role as an autistic child who is Barfi's childhood friend and the wealthy heiress of her grandfather's fortune who falls head over heels in love with Barfi who is in love with Shruti played by Ileana.

Priyanka Chopra is currently shooting for Isn't it romantic? - a Hollywood film directed by Tom Strauss Sculson while simultaneously working for Quantico's season 3 where she will reprise her role as Alex Parrish - an FBI agent.
