A teacher is the most important person in evolution of a child and the bond between teacher-student is of prime importance.Bollywood too has also given us many big screen teachers, but some remain etched in our memories. So on the occasion of Teacher's Day, here's a look at 5 big screen teachers who not just taught a subject in the classroom, but gave us memorable life lessons to cherish.

 

1.1954 film, Jagriti told the timeless story of a rich spoilt brat getting transformed under the guidance of a teacher. Abhi Bhattacharaya plays the role of a teacher who runs a boarding school. He uses unorthodox teaching methods to impart morals and good values among his students. The famous song 'Aao bachchon Tumhe Dikhaaye' is still fresh in the memories and is a reminder of how the students are a mirror image of what their teachers want them to be or believe.

 

2. In 1972, Gulzar directed Jeetendra and Jaya Bachchan in 'Parichay'. Inspired by Hollywood's classic hit 'Sound of Music', the film sees Jeetu ji in the role of Ravi who takes up the challenge of teaching five spoilt kids who have managed to drive away all their teachers in the past. Desperate for work, Ravi goes as a teacher for the kids at Rai Saheb's bungalow. Not just education, he makes the children reconcile with their grandfather. He ends the hatred in the family and brings them together as the loving teacher makes the children smile again and accept their grandfather inspite of a bitter past. 

 

 

3. In 1993 Naseeruddin Shah played the role of 'Sir' in Mahesh Bhatt film. A professor who loses his only son in gang war, doesn't that stop him from loving his students. In fact he brings positive influence in their lives. He avenges his son's death by transforming a gangster's life.In the role of a true tutor and mentor for his students, Sir helps Pooja resolve her stammering issue even sort out her love life. Even after so many years, the song "sir we love you" is heard on every teacher's day. 

4. Black (2005): Sanjay Bhansali told the story of teacher-student relationship in a beautiful way. Amitabh Bachchan plays the role of Debraj Sahni, an alcoholic teacher who turns a magician with his students. Rani Mukherjee plays the role of a blind and dumb girl Michelle, who doesn't know what to do with her life until a teacher walks in and helps her become a college graduate. Inspired by the real life story of Helen Keller's life and struggles, this film once again depicted the life changing impact of a teacher on a student's life.

 

5. 2007 film Taare Zameen Par saw Aamir Khan's debut as a director. Mr perfectionist plays the role of an art teacher who not only taught them how to sketch or paint, but even helps a dyslexic child, Ishaan discover his true identity. Unaffected by the criticism for turning his classroom into a playground, Aamir's character shows the compassionate side of the teachers who help students enjoy their childhood while dealing with the pressure to become an all rounder.
