Kriti Sanon turns a year older today and she couldn’t have asked for a better way to celebrate. Her latest movie, Arjun Patiala, released yesterday and the actress says that the best gift would be, “people going to the theatres and liking the film”. The spoofy comedy has her paired opposite Diljit Dosanjh for the first time. “He’s done a lot of comedy in Punjabi films and is funny in real life. But people haven’t seen that side of him here, so it will be interesting,” says the actress. And, while she is happy that the film has hit the screens around her birthday, she confesses that it also makes her a little preoccupied!

Incidentally, the Luka Chuppi actress is not big on birthdays and thinks they are overrated. If left to her, she would celebrate it quietly with her family and friends. “Last year, I threw my first filmi bash on my birthday, but that was an exception. Dinesh Vijan’s (producer-director) birthday is a day before mine, so we celebrated it together. But, I am more of a pyjama party person. I like to chill at home with close friends and family, rather than go clubbing,” she says.

This year, the leggy lass is not planning to step out of her house. “I have been either travelling or shooting, so I want to relax. I have told my family to not do anything, but I am aware that my sister (Nupur) and friends are planning some surprise for me, I think it’s a get-together,” she grins.

Birthdays may not rate high for her, but Kriti loves surprises and gifts. “I like when anyone makes an effort, puts thought behind it. More than anything materialistic, it’s the emotion and thought that counts. I enjoy gifts like any other girl,” she says. What has been the best b’day gift she has received so far? “My sister once gifted me a handmade scrapbook, with all my pictures in different growing-up stages and put it in chronological order. She also wrote cute and funny stuff. She used paint, thumbprint, and even bhindi as stamp. It had all my bachpan ka pictures, some with my grandmother. I cherish that. It’s a treasure and whenever I go through a moody phase, I open that book and feel good,” she signs off.
