Multi-talented Anurag Kashyap needs no introduction. The man who can write, direct, produce and act in movies is no less than a film institute in himself. Thanks to him, offbeat and arty cinema which was only celebrated at film festival circuit earlier is now enjoyed by regular cine goers on the home turf too.  His directorial ventures like 'Gangs of Wasseypur', 'Dev D',  'Raman Raghav' and even his acting debut in 'Akira' earned him appreciation from the audience and critical acclaim. In between the success stories, Kashyap is known for his share of controversies too. His fresh battles with CBFC with every new film release to his strong opinion on political scenario in the country, Anurag Kashyap is known for being as badass as his movies.

So, as the maverick filmmaker turns 45 today, here's a look at his memorable quotes.

1) “I think I have always been a responsible filmmaker and the proof is that my films have actually not been censored, even though it was a long road to freedom and I managed to fight my battles. I know what freedom is and I’ve always fought for it."

2) "It does not matter what you(online trolls) say or do, attack me physically or verbally, I will voice what I feel. You mobs don't scare me, my voice will always rise over your screaming and shouting, I embrace my truth and I do not fear accusations."

3) "I am tired of the film industry being soft targets. We are damned if we do, damned if we don’t! When we don’t involve ourselves, they ask “why is Bollywood quiet now?” When we involve ourselves, we become the scapegoats to distract you from the real news.

4) "We had four Bollywood actors (Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan, Amitabh Bachchan) in the Forbes highest paid actors whereas rest were Hollywood actors. The films starring the Hollywood actors earn in millions and billions but what our films earn at max is 300 crore. But still there are Indians in that list. So if you see the ratio on the list, business of the film vs income of the actor, there is a huge disparity."

5) "I will act only if I get enough money, otherwise I don't have any intention to act. I will do acting only if the role is good or someone gives me obscene amount of money that solves my other problems."

6) "I am still at the periphery in Bollywood. The fact is that I have stopped trying to be part of the interior now. I am very comfortable where I am right now in my career and with myself. I have become mature. May be that's because of my age... I just want to make films."

7) "There was a time I started feeling that the floods are because of me, the drought is because of me, the accidents here and there are happening because of Anurag Kashyap. People have attacked me and rightly so. But I have learnt from my mistakes. I don't think I will ever try making a film like Bombay Velvet anymore where the production costs will become invisible."
