'Gully Boy' at Oscars 2020: Hrithik Roshan, Karan Johar congratulate Ranveer, Alia and team for their feat

It was learnt a few hours back that Ranveer Singh-Alia Bhatt starrer Gully Boy is India's official entry into Oscars 2020. It is thus the first time when Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt and Zoya Akhtar's name could be taken at the 92nd Academy Awards.

Gully Boy was produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani's Excel Entertainment. A proud brother, Farhan Akhtar took to Instagram in order to share the happy news. "#GullyBoy has been selected as India’s official entry to be sent for the 92nd Oscar Awards. #apnatimeaayega Thank you to the Film Federation of India and congratulations @zoieakhtar @reemakagti1 @ritesh_sid @ranveersingh @aliaabhatt @siddhantchaturvedi @kalkikanmani @itsvijayvarma @vivianakadivine @naezythebaa @ankurtewari & all cast, crew and hip hop crew," wrote the actor, filmmaker and singer.

Soon after Farhan's post, various celebrities went ahead and congratulated the team for the achievement. "This is amazing," replied Farhan's Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara co-star Hrithik Roshan. Anil Kapoor's son and actor Harshvardhan Kapoor also went on to comment, "Never in doubt #filmoftheyear."

Not just Hrithik and Harshavardhan, even Karan Johar went on to tweet about the film and congratulate the team. He wrote, "My absolute favourite film of the year is the official Indian entry for the OSCARS!!!! #GullyBoy all the way! Zoya Akhtar is my favourite Indian filmmaker! Well done boys @FarOutAkhtar@ritesh_sid get the gold statue home!!! So excited !! @aliaa08 @RanveerOfficial and the team!"
