In a series of tweets, trade analyst Taran Adarsh announced the movies re-releasing on the big screen after theatres re-open.
Now that theatres are reopening from October 15, 2020, amid the new unlocking rules. A few films have been announced for theatrical release which includes Manoj Bajpayee, Diljit Dosanjh and Fatima Sana Shaikh starter Suraj Pe Mangal Bhaari. As per trade analyst Taran Adarsh, five films from 2018 to 2020 are slated to re-release on the big screen. The films namely Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, Malang, Kedarnath and Thappad will be making it to the theatres once again.
Taran tweeted, "As cinemas ready to reopen their doors from this week onwards, the list of #Hindi films scheduled for re-release this week is OFFICIALLY announced... #Tanhaji, #ShubhMangalZyadaSaavdhan, #Malang, #Kedarnath, #Thappad. More films will be scheduled in the coming days."
He further shared, "The list of #Hindi films re-releasing in cinemas keeps growing... In addition to the five titles mentioned earlier [#Tanhaji, #ShubhMangalZyadaSaavdhan, #Malang, #Kedarnath, #Thappad], there’s a prominent addition to the list: #War... More films will be scheduled in the coming days."
There were reports making the rounds that a few films which made it to the OTT platforms will be released in theatres. However, Taran confirmed that the news is untrue.
He tweeted, "IMPORTANT DEVELOPMENT... There was talk that films premiered on #OTT platforms [#DilBechara, #Sadak2, #ShakuntalaDevi, #KhudaHaafiz, #GunjanSaxena, #GulaboSitabo] *might* release in cinemas... But leading multiplex chains [#PVR, #INOX, #Carnival] decide NOT TO SCREEN these films. #Cinepolis multiplex chain won’t screen these films as well."
Meanwhile, Suraj Pe Mangal Bhaari is slated to release during Diwali this year on the big screen.
