After shirts, elongated blazers have been a favourite with Bollywood actresses of late
The shirtdress has been a rage among B-Town actresses for the past odd year. The ladies have often skipped pants with slouchy oversized T-shirts or boyfriend shirts, and made quite a style statement. From Shraddha Kapoor to Deepika Padukone, Malaika Arora and Katrina Kaif among others have oozed oodles of oomph, flaunting their perfectly-toned pins.
However, looks like they are now making room for the jacket dress in their wardrobes. Recently, Priyanka Chopra Jonas was spotted in a thigh-length blazer outfit from Versace teamed with Louboutin pumps while promoting her upcoming movie. Her golden shoes matched the detailing on her brown-and-gold themed number. Her dark lipstick made her look interesting. This wasn’t the first time for her. In August, she wore a white jacket dress by Reformation at the launch of her husband Nick Jonas’s tequila brand in New York.
Recently, Shibani Dandekar opted for a Mistress Rocks long jacket with thigh-high beige boots at a beauty award. Gabriela Demetriades rocked a similar look with a black elongated blazer from her own label and boots. Designers Kinnary Panchamia and Mala Bhayani say, “When short dresses are paired with over-the-knee boots, waders or any cuissardes, it makes a statement and make many heads turn!”
Stylist Anuj Lalwani says that a blazer outfit makes the wearer appear super well-dressed. “It is as chic as it is edgy and as modern as it is classic. It’s about power play yet shows the feminine side. One wearing it demonstrates confidence.”
Jackets have been timeless since the Victorian era in the west, says designer Jagx . Prime statement wear for corporate and business class is now turning into trend showcase by finest designers for more than a few decades. “Lately, a fad of just the jacket with a belt and wearing it like a short dress has been most loved. It has been seen on the red carpet, in street style fashion, party wear or casual wear,” he points out. Right enough, Shruti Haasan showed us that it’s a sexy airport look when she rocked a black blazer while collecting air miles.
Jagx recommends wearing an oversized double-breasted jacket just with a belt across the waist and pairing it with long boots or sneakers (depending on the dress). “You will be ready for your casual day, brunch or a club night, without any layering,” he states. Anuj adds, “You can add the zipper detail to rock a classic trend with a modern twist. Thigh-grazing blazers flaunt your toned legs and no shirt, no accessories and pencil heels make you seem all set to break glass ceilings.”
