Days after the CBFC chief Prasoon Joshi appeared before a parliamentary panel, CBFC will now appoint a panel of historians to watch the most controversial movie of the year, Padmavati. CBFC department will set up a panel of historians to watch and review the movie, suggest a report by IANS. Movie shall be screened for the panel of historians for them to scrutinise the authenticity of Padmavati's content.

The report further added that sources revealed that the makers had asked for even more controversy for the movie by giving a debatable disclaimer that said the movie was partially based on historical events and facts. Padmavati was earlier sent back to the makers without certification after they didn't specify whether the film was a work of fiction or was based on historical facts in their earlier application.

All the viewers and Padmavati's team waiting for the movie to get a censor clearance soon after the Gujarat assembly elections shall now be left disappointed as the movie may not be released before March or April 2018, added the report.

Sources in CBFC department told the agency that Padmavati could only be certified in January since December was almost over. "We have not scheduled the film. There are at least 40 feature films in different languages waiting in the queue before Padmavati," the source was quoted as saying.

Now the cause of worry for the director is the delay in the release date of the film and whether the movie will get a green signal from the panel of historians. Padmavati stars Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh in th leads and was earlier slated to hit the theatres on December 1.

Several fringe groups have been protesting over the content of the film, saying that it misrepresents the Rajput culture and portrays them in a bad light. The makers have repeatedly denied any such claims made by the outfits who've not even watched the film.
